Judy Austin and Rita Edochie appeared before an Abuja High Court on Tuesday in a legal dispute involving a ₦1 billion lawsuit filed by Judy against Rita.
Judy is seeking ₦1 billion in damages, a public apology and other reliefs over allegations surrounding comments allegedly made about her.
While Judy attended the court proceedings alone, Rita arrived with a group of supporters.
Following the court session, a video circulated online showing Rita confronting Judy and allegedly telling her that she would “cry blood.” Rita was also heard accusing Judy of attempting to prevent her from speaking out against people she described as “husband snatchers.”
Outside the courtroom, a crowd was reportedly heard shouting at Judy, calling her a “husband snatcher” and questioning her decision to take her in-law to court.
Reacting to the incident, Emeka Ugwuonye, who previously represented May Edochie, criticised Rita and alleged that she led some of the women who mocked Judy outside the court.
Ugwuonye said he would report the individuals involved to the police, adding that the video footage could potentially be used as evidence in the matter.
The court subsequently adjourned the case until November 24.
The allegations made by the different parties remain subject to the outcome of the legal proceedings.
