Comedian Alleges Attempted Bribery by Party Officials Over Anti-Government Skits

Celebrity Gossip News Trending

Nigerian comedian Kevin Chinedu, popularly known as Governor Amuneke (Kevinblak), has alleged that some political party officials offered him money to alter the tone of his anti-government skits.

He made the revelation during an interview on Arise TV, where he spoke on the pressures faced by content creators who use satire to critique leadership and governance.

According to the comedian, the offer came at a particularly difficult time in his life, shortly after his wife underwent a Caesarean section, leaving him with significant financial responsibilities. He claimed the officials promised to “change his life” with dollar payments and encouraged him to travel to Abuja to finalize the arrangement.

Despite the financial strain, Kevinblak said he declined the offer, maintaining that he would not compromise his values or allow monetary incentives to influence his content.

He also noted that some of his colleagues were approached with similar offers but rejected them as well. The comedian, however, did not disclose the identity of the political party involved, urging the public to avoid speculation.

The development has sparked conversations around the influence of politics on creative expression, particularly among Nigerian skit makers who use humor as a tool for social commentary.
