The Delta State Police Command has reiterated its ban on the use of fireworks, knockouts, bangers and similar explosive devices as the Christmas season approaches.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Command said the ban is necessary to prevent avoidable injuries, curb panic, and help security agencies properly distinguish criminal gunfire from fireworks during the festive period.
The police noted that fireworks often serve as a cover for criminal activities and urged parents, guardians and shop owners to warn their children and avoid selling the prohibited items.
According to the Command, anyone caught using, distributing, or selling fireworks in the state will be arrested and prosecuted.

The Commissioner of Police called for the cooperation of residents, assuring that the measures are aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secure Yuletide celebration across Delta State.
