Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly neutralised several suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a follow-up exploitation operation after an attempted attack on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Tungushe, Borno State.
The development was revealed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama in a post shared on his X handle.
According to the report, the terrorists had launched an attack on the military base but were successfully repelled by troops stationed at the facility. Following the failed assault, security forces reportedly carried out a follow-up operation aimed at tracking fleeing insurgents and clearing surrounding areas.
During the exploitation mission, several suspected ISWAP members were said to have been neutralised as troops intensified efforts to prevent further threats and maintain control of the area.
Operation Hadin Kai has continued to sustain military offensives against insurgent groups operating across the North-East, particularly in Borno State, which remains one of the major theatres of counter-insurgency operations in Nigeria.
Further details surrounding casualties and recoveries from the operation are yet to be officially confirmed.
