US-Based Nigerian CEO Arrested at San Francisco Airport Over Alleged $7m Fraud

News

Cashmir Chinedu Luke, the chief executive officer of a U.S.-based home care company, has been arrested by federal authorities for allegedly defrauding the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) of more than $7 million.

Luke was taken into custody at the San Francisco International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Nigeria. According to investigators, his company is accused of submitting falsified claims and billing documents to the VA for services that were never provided.

Authorities say the scheme ran for several years, allowing Luke’s company to receive millions of dollars in fraudulent payments. The arrest followed months of investigation by federal agents, who flagged suspicious transactions linked to the company’s operations.

Luke is expected to face multiple federal charges, including fraud, false claims, and financial misconduct. U.S. officials say additional details will be released as the case proceeds.
