President Bola Tinubu has revealed that his decision to appoint Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was driven by the law professor’s proven integrity, non-partisan disposition, and outstanding record of public service.

Speaking on Thursday, Tinubu said Amupitan’s appointment aligns with his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions through credible leadership.He described the new INEC Chairman as a distinguished academic and legal luminary with a reputation for fairness and professionalism, adding that the nation requires such individuals to sustain trust in the electoral process.

Tinubu expressed confidence that under Amupitan’s leadership, INEC would build on ongoing reforms to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections across the country.
