Former Kano State Governor and NNPP chieftain, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has thrown his weight behind the National Democratic Coalition (NDC)’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the Southern region of Nigeria.
Kwankwaso described the move as a step toward fairness, equity, and national balance, stressing that power-sharing remains important in maintaining unity and stability in the country’s political system.
Speaking during a recent political gathering, the former presidential candidate noted that rotational leadership has helped to strengthen trust among different regions and ethnic groups in Nigeria. According to him, allowing the South to produce the next presidential candidate under the party’s arrangement would promote inclusiveness and reduce political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He further stated that respecting zoning agreements within political parties helps to build credibility and internal democracy, adding that no region should feel sidelined in the nation’s leadership process.
