Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the latest attacks in Benue and Plateau states, describing the continued killings as heartbreaking and unacceptable.
Obi expressed sympathy to the families who lost loved ones and to communities affected by the violence. He said Nigerians should not become accustomed to the repeated loss of innocent lives, stressing that every citizen deserves to live in peace and security.
He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to adopt a more proactive, intelligence-driven approach to tackling insecurity, rather than reacting only after attacks have occurred. According to him, stronger preventive measures, improved intelligence gathering, and swift action are necessary to protect vulnerable communities.
Obi also urged authorities to ensure those responsible for the attacks are identified, arrested, and brought to justice. He maintained that restoring peace and protecting lives must remain a top national priority.
He concluded by calling on all Nigerians to stand together in support of the affected communities and work towards ending the cycle of violence across the country.
