Israel has reportedly shared new intelligence with the United States regarding an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to multiple international reports.
The intelligence was said to have been passed to US officials in recent days and reportedly points to a specific threat that had not previously been identified by American intelligence agencies. Authorities are still evaluating the information, and details of the alleged plot have not been made public.
The reported threat comes against the backdrop of long-standing tensions between the US and Iran. Since the 2020 US airstrike that killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani, Iranian leaders have repeatedly vowed to seek revenge, with Trump remaining one of the country’s most prominent targets in public statements.
Following the reports, the White House referred to Trump’s previous comments acknowledging that Iran has made threats against him in the past. Israeli officials and Iran’s mission to the United Nations had not issued immediate public comments on the matter.
The development comes as regional tensions remain high despite ongoing diplomatic efforts and a fragile ceasefire involving the United States, Israel and Iran. US intelligence and security agencies are reportedly continuing to assess the credibility of the information shared by Israel.
