Terrorists Abduct OPC Chieftain, Two Others During Ransom Delivery in Kwara

Suspected terrorists have abducted an official of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and two other individuals during an attempt to secure the release of a kidnapped victim in Kwara State.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Babanla community of Ifelodun Local Government Area, where the victims had gone to deliver ransom demanded by the abductors for the release of another kidnapped resident.

According to sources in the area, the OPC chieftain and his companions were acting as intermediaries when they were ambushed by the gunmen. After collecting the ransom, the kidnappers allegedly seized the three men and whisked them away to an unknown location.

Residents said the development has heightened fear across the community, which has witnessed increasing cases of kidnapping and insecurity in recent months.

Local vigilante groups and security agencies have reportedly launched efforts to locate the victims and secure their release. Authorities are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Community leaders have called on security agencies to intensify operations in the area and address the growing threat posed by armed criminal groups operating within the region.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the abducted OPC official and the two others remain unknown.
