A devastating windstorm has claimed the life of a businesswoman and caused extensive destruction in parts of Benue State, leaving residents counting their losses.
The incident, which occurred during a heavy rainstorm, reportedly killed the woman after a structure collapsed on her. Several homes were also damaged, with roofs blown off and properties destroyed across the affected community.
Residents said the violent storm uprooted trees, blocked major roads, and disrupted movement within the area. Some electricity poles were also damaged, worsening the situation for affected households.
Community members have appealed to the government and relevant emergency agencies to provide urgent assistance to victims who lost their homes and belongings in the disaster.
Authorities are said to be assessing the extent of the damage as efforts continue to support those affected by the windstorm.
