The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a renewed travel advisory to prospective Batch A corps members, urging them to avoid late-night journeys as they prepare to report to their respective orientation camps across the country.
In a statement released by the scheme, the NYSC emphasized that the safety and welfare of corps members remain a top priority, especially amid ongoing security concerns on some highways. Corps members were advised to plan their trips carefully and ensure they travel only during the daytime.
According to the NYSC, travelling at night exposes corps members to unnecessary risks, including road accidents, criminal attacks, and other security threats. The scheme warned that no camp official will penalize corps members who arrive late due to adherence to safety guidelines.
The NYSC further advised corps members to use only recognized motor parks and reputable transport companies, avoid hitchhiking, and keep family members or trusted friends informed about their travel plans. Corps members were also encouraged to keep their phones charged and carry valid identification documents at all times.
In addition, the scheme urged corps members to strictly follow all instructions on their call-up letters and official NYSC communication channels, warning against reliance on unverified information from social media.
The NYSC reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and successful orientation exercise and called on corps members to prioritize their personal safety above all else while traveling to camp.
