The Nigeria Police Force has successfully foiled a planned attack linked to child trafficking in Kaduna State, rescuing 76 children who were being transported by suspected traffickers for forced labor.

According to police sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence that a group of suspects was moving the children under suspicious circumstances along a major route in Kaduna. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, security operatives mounted a stop-and-search operation, intercepting the vehicle conveying the minors.

Upon inspection, officers discovered that the childrenโ€”mostly between the ages of 5 and 15โ€”could not provide consistent or verifiable information about their destination or the individuals accompanying them. Further questioning revealed strong indications that they were being trafficked to be used for child labor in another state.

All 76 children were rescued unharmed and immediately taken into protective custody. They have since been handed over to relevant government agencies for care, profiling, and eventual reunification with their families.

Several suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The police said efforts are underway to dismantle the wider trafficking network believed to be behind the operation.

The Kaduna State Police Command commended its officers for their swift response and reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping, human trafficking, and other crimes against vulnerable persons. The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

Authorities assured Nigerians that those found culpable will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, stressing that the safety and welfare of children remain a top priority for the police.
