The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, vowing to intensify its crackdown on criminal elements across the state and ensure the rescue of all kidnapped victims.
The assurance was given by the state government following recent security concerns in parts of Kogi, particularly incidents involving kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes. The government said it is working closely with security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
According to a statement issued on behalf of the state government, security operatives have been placed on high alert, with renewed directives to sustain aggressive operations against criminals hiding in forests and remote areas. The government stressed that it will not relent until all perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
The government further disclosed that intelligence-led operations are ongoing, involving the military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and local vigilante groups. These joint efforts, it said, are already yielding positive results, with several criminal hideouts uncovered and suspects arrested in recent operations.
Reassuring families of abducted persons, the state government promised that no effort would be spared to secure the safe rescue of all kidnapped victims. It added that security agencies have been given clear marching orders to prioritize rescue missions while ensuring the safety of victims.
The government also called on residents to remain calm and vigilant, urging them to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid operations. It warned against spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on crime, the Kogi State Government emphasized that criminals would find no safe haven within the state, pledging to sustain the momentum until peace and security are fully restored.
