At least eight people have been killed and four others declared missing following fresh attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on several communities in Adamawa State.
Local sources said the attackers stormed the affected villages in the early hours of the day, shooting sporadically and setting houses and food stores ablaze, forcing residents to flee for safety. The assault reportedly lasted several hours, leaving many families displaced.
Eyewitnesses said the victims included farmers and local residents who were caught unawares as the gunmen moved from house to house. Four persons are still unaccounted for, raising fears they may have been abducted by the insurgents during the raid.
Security operatives were later deployed to the area, while a search-and-rescue operation has commenced to locate the missing persons and secure the affected communities. Authorities have also begun assessing the extent of damage caused by the attack.
Adamawa State officials condemned the violence and reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to restore calm and prevent further attacks. They urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
