US Congresswoman Nancy Mace on Thursday criticised the administration of former President Joe Biden over its handling of international religious-freedom issues, particularly its decision to remove Nigeria from the US watchlist.
In a post shared on X, Mace said the move failed to reflect the realities on the ground, insisting that “Nigeria has become one of the deadliest countries in the world for Christians.”She argued that recurring attacks, persecution, and rising insecurity affecting Christian communities should have kept Nigeria under closer scrutiny by the US government.
Mace’s comments come amid renewed debate within Washington and international rights circles over how the US evaluates global religious-freedom conditions and responds to countries where violations persist.
