Area Command, has intercepted 35,725 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and other smuggled goods valued at over ₦109.5 million in a fresh anti-smuggling operation across the state.The Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
He said the seizures were made through intensified patrols and intelligence-driven operations aimed at curbing the illegal movement of goods across Nigeria’s borders.According to him, the confiscated items included 1,192 jerrycans of PMS (35,725 litres), 180 parcels of cannabis sativa, 40 bales of second-hand clothes, and several bags of foreign rice and fertilizer.Ojike reiterated the service’s commitment to enforcing the Federal Government’s ban on the smuggling of petroleum products and other prohibited items, adding that the command will continue to work tirelessly to protect the nation’s economy and ensure border security.
He warned smugglers and economic saboteurs to desist from their illegal activities, stressing that the command remains vigilant and ready to intercept any contraband entering or leaving the country through Kebbi’s borders.
