
Armed assailants opened fire on a vehicle in Pakistan’s northwestern border region, killing a pro-government militia leader and five of his aides, officials said on Thursday.According to security sources, the victims were ambushed while travelling through a remote area. After the attack, the gunmen set the vehicle ablaze, burning the bodies of the deceased before fleeing the scene.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the assault, which occurred in a region frequently targeted by militant groups opposed to the government.No group has yet claimed responsibility for the deadly ambush.
