
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists for allegedly initiating a five-year-old boy into their group and forcing him to consume alcohol.The suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence received by police operatives attached to the Oghara Division in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, October 20, 2025, the incident occurred during a cult initiation ceremony where the minor was forcefully inducted.He said the divisional police officers swiftly mobilized their men to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects, while others fled the area.“The four suspects are currently in custody, and efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the cult group.

The child has been rescued and is receiving appropriate care,” Edafe stated.He added that the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, condemned the act, describing it as “barbaric and inhumane,” and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eliminating cult-related activities across the state.Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the inquiry.
