The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 46-year-old man, identified as Abi Baragon, for allegedly assaulting a woman who turned down his marriage proposal in Port Harcourt.According to reports, Baragon became enraged after the lady declined his proposal, leading him to physically attack her and inflict severe injuries.
The incident, which occurred in the state capital, sparked outrage among residents who called for his immediate arrest.Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is in custody and will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
She reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting women from gender-based violence and warned that such acts of brutality would not be tolerated in Rivers State.
