Tragedy struck in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Monday as two schoolchildren lost their lives after being electrocuted during a rainfall.According to eyewitnesses, the pupils were said to have sought refuge from the heavy downpour in a roadside shop when an electric cable snapped and came in contact with a metal structure nearby, instantly electrocuting them.
Residents who rushed to the scene described the incident as heartbreaking, calling on electricity authorities to urgently fix hanging and damaged cables in the area to prevent future occurrences.The bodies of the victims have since been taken to a nearby hospital, while local authorities have launched an investigation into the tragic incident.
