INEC extends FCT voter registration by four days

News

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a four-day extension of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).In a statement on Tuesday, the commission said the extension became necessary to ensure that all eligible residents of the FCT have ample opportunity to register ahead of the upcoming area council elections.

The exercise, which was earlier scheduled to end on Sunday, will now continue until Thursday, allowing more time for prospective voters to complete their registration at designated ward centres.INEC noted that the decision followed the high turnout of registrants and appeals from stakeholders for additional time to accommodate those yet to register.

The commission urged residents to take advantage of the extension, emphasizing that the registration process remains free of charge.
