Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore arrived at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja carrying a travel bag packed with personal items like soap and clothes. This symbolic gesture suggests he was prepared for a potential extended detention.
Sowore was honoring a police invitation regarding a petition filed against him. In response, members of the Take It Back Movement and other activist groups who accompanied him issued a two-hour ultimatum, demanding his release. They threatened “mass resistance” if the police fail to comply, with some vowing to get arrested alongside him.
Before this, Sowore had publicly rejected the invitation, calling it “defective and riddled with legal errors.”
