The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that a pastor was arrested in connection with the recent abduction of students and staff from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, the Command described the reports circulating on social media as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary panic among the public.
According to the police, no pastor has been arrested in relation to the incident, urging members of the public to disregard the claims and avoid spreading unverified information.
The Command assured residents that investigations into the school abduction are ongoing and that security agencies are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
The police also appealed to the public to rely only on official updates from the Oyo State Police Command and other credible sources, warning that the spread of false information could hinder ongoing investigations.
Residents were encouraged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and report any useful information that could assist in the investigation.
