The Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands have rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested 88 suspected criminals during a coordinated security operation aimed at tackling crime across both states.
The operation, codenamed Operation Kosaye, involved joint raids on forests and other identified criminal hideouts located along the Lagos-Ogun border. According to the police, the exercise was designed to dismantle criminal camps, disrupt kidnapping activities, and improve security in the region.
During the operation, security operatives successfully rescued five victims who had been abducted by suspected kidnappers. A total of 88 suspects were also arrested for various offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related activities, and other criminal acts.
Police authorities said several items linked to criminal operations were recovered during the raids, while investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the criminal networks.
The Lagos and Ogun Police Commands reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining joint security operations and intelligence sharing to curb criminal activities, particularly within forests and border communities frequently exploited by criminals.
Residents of both states have been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace and public safety.
