LAGOS — The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, Samson Onilewaji, after he was allegedly found in possession of a suspected severed human hand, firearms, and stolen items during a stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect was intercepted while travelling in an unregistered commercial shuttle bus carrying six occupants. A search of the vehicle and its passengers reportedly led to the recovery of a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, a POS terminal, and five ATM cards.
Police said the suspect later confessed to recently robbing three individuals of their belongings, including the recovered POS machine and ATM cards. Efforts are currently underway to identify and contact the victims for the return of their recovered property.
The police also disclosed that investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the owner of the recovered body part, the circumstances surrounding its possession, and its intended use.
Authorities have assured the public that further details will be made available as investigations progress.
