Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has reassured Nigerians that ongoing reforms in the power sector are beginning to yield positive results, with gradual improvements in electricity generation and distribution across the country.
Speaking on recent developments in the sector, the minister said the Federal Government remains committed to transforming Nigeria’s electricity supply through sustained investments, policy reforms, and the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure.
According to Tegbe, several previously underperforming power plants have been revived, contributing to increased electricity generation and improved grid stability. He noted that efforts are also being intensified to strengthen transmission and distribution networks to ensure that generated power reaches homes and businesses more efficiently.
The minister acknowledged the challenges facing the sector, including aging infrastructure, funding constraints, and technical losses, but expressed confidence that ongoing reforms would deliver long-term benefits for Nigerians.
He emphasized that the government is working closely with stakeholders to address bottlenecks across the electricity value chain, improve service delivery, and attract more private sector investment into the industry.
Tegbe urged Nigerians to remain patient as the reforms continue, stressing that while the transformation may take time, signs of progress are already becoming visible in several parts of the country.
He reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to achieving a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable power supply capable of supporting economic growth and improving the quality of life for citizens.
