SAFE CITY HYDRA INTELLIGENCE LEADS OPERATION THAT NEUTRALIZES KIDNAPPERS RESPONSIBLE FOR DELTA PALM WINE TAPPER MURDER

News

In a major breakthrough against violent crime across Delta and Edo corridors, operatives of the Safe City Hydra intelligence network have successfully neutralized the kidnappers responsible for the recent murder of a palm wine tapper in Delta State. The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and multiple mobile phones belonging to the gang.

According to field intelligence, the criminal group had been under close surveillance for days. Their movement was initially tracked from Auchi before they fled to Ekpoma, later diverting toward Uromi/Ewohimi in an attempt to evade capture. The breakthrough came when the gang proceeded to Igbodo, Delta State, where they abducted a woman and collected ransom. The victim has since identified the kidnappers, further strengthening the case against them.

This same gang had terrorized several communities in recent weeks. Just last week, they kidnapped a man in Emuhu, Delta State, abducted two palm wine tappers, and brutally killed one after failing to secure ransom. After the incident, they reportedly escaped through Abavo and crossed into Urhonigbe, Edo North, using the railway line as their escape route.

Determined to end the reign of these criminals, the Safe City team arrived Obiaruku, Delta State, four days ago. The operation received full backing from the Distinguished Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Possible Ajede, who assigned an officer from the State Command SACU as well as two civilian Anti-Cult operatives to strengthen the mission.

With multiple rounds of coordinated air surveillance and ground intelligence, operatives were able to pinpoint the exact location of the hideout. Earlier today, the team moved in swiftly, stormed the base, and neutralized the kidnappers in a precision-led operation. An AK-47 rifle, believed to have been used in the gang’s previous crimes, was recovered alongside other critical evidence.

Special appreciation goes to Hon. (Barr.) Possible Ajede for his unwavering support, logistical backup, and hands-on commitment, which were instrumental in the success of this operation. Additional recognition is extended to His Excellencies, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Monday Okpebholo, whose consistent efforts have ensured full mobilization of security agencies in the region.
