The Ebonyi State Police Command has apprehended two suspected cult members and recovered a locally fabricated pistol along with fourteen rounds of live ammunition in Amanekwula Village, Ezza South Local Government Area.The command’s spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the suspects were nabbed during a coordinated operation by police operatives acting on credible intelligence about their activities in the area.Ukandu explained that the suspects were found in possession of the firearm and ammunition, which they could not account for. He added that preliminary investigations revealed the duo’s alleged involvement in cult-related activities and other criminal acts within the community.
“The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the police spokesperson stated.He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements, urging residents to continue providing useful information to aid security operations.
