She said the news of the inferno, which gutted the six-storey commercial building earlier in the week, was heartbreaking and called for collective reflection on safety measures in public and private spaces.

This is indeed a painful moment for them, and I pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the First Lady said.She also extended her prayers to those injured in the incident, wishing them a speedy recovery.Senator Tinubu further commended emergency responders, firefighters, and health workers who have been working tirelessly since the outbreak to save lives and bring the situation under control.
The First Lady urged stakeholders to intensify efforts toward ensuring stricter enforcement of safety standards in commercial buildings to prevent a recurrence of such disasters.
The Afriland Towers fire, which broke out earlier this week, initially claimed four lives before the death toll rose to ten on Thursday, sparking nationwide grief and condolences from prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
