The United States and Iran have resumed heavy military attacks on each other, bringing an end to their short-lived ceasefire and pushing the conflict back into full-scale war.
Iran launched retaliatory strikes against several U.S. military facilities across the Middle East, including sites in Syria, Bahrain and Kuwait, after days of American airstrikes on Iranian military targets. Tehran said the attacks were in response to U.S. operations that killed Iranian personnel and damaged key military infrastructure.
In response, the U.S. carried out fresh air and naval strikes on Iranian air defense systems, logistics hubs and other military installations. The renewed fighting has also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil route, raising concerns over energy supplies and increasing oil prices.
The latest escalation comes after a temporary peace agreement collapsed amid disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz and accusations from both sides of violating the truce. Diplomatic efforts have stalled, with both governments blaming each other for reigniting the conflict.
