Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sergeant John Abena, who was killed during the rescue operation following the abduction at a school in Oyo State.
The IGP described the late officer as a brave and dedicated policeman who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting lives. He extended his condolences to the officer’s family, colleagues, and loved ones, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Tunji Disu also commended the police officers and other security personnel involved in the operation for their courage, professionalism, and commitment, noting that their efforts led to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victims.
He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating crime, protecting citizens, and ensuring that those responsible for criminal acts are brought to justice.
