At least 14 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following two separate bandit attacks in Katsina State.
The attacks reportedly occurred in the early hours of the day in communities within Dandume and Musawa Local Government Areas, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
According to local sources, heavily armed bandits stormed the affected villages and opened fire on residents, causing panic as people fled for safety. In the attack on Dandume, several villagers were shot while others sustained serious injuries as the assailants moved from house to house.
A similar attack was also reported in Musawa Local Government Area, where the gunmen invaded another community, killing several residents and injuring many others before fleeing the scene.
Community members said the attackers operated for hours without resistance, looting property and spreading fear among residents.
Security operatives were later deployed to the affected areas to restore calm and begin search operations aimed at tracking down the perpetrators. Injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while families of the deceased have begun preparations for burial.
Authorities in Katsina State have condemned the attacks and assured residents that efforts are ongoing to strengthen security and prevent further incidents.
