The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who allegedly lured and abducted their victim using a dating platform.According to police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects were apprehended during a sting operation at their hideout in Egwi community, Etche Local Government Area of the state.
The duo had reportedly used a fake profile on a popular dating site to deceive their victim into visiting them, only to kidnap and demand ransom. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives tracked and raided the location, rescuing the victim unharmed and recovering key evidence.Iringe-Koko added that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with further investigations, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang still at large.
The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their swift action and reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing all criminal elements to justice.
