Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to identify the projects and political empowerment he brought to Evo Kingdom and Rivers State during his years in public office.
Wike made the remarks while speaking with leaders and stakeholders of Evo Kingdom in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The FCT Minister questioned what he described as the lack of notable projects and political opportunities allegedly attracted to the area during Amaechi’s 24 years in prominent public positions.
According to Wike, Amaechi had several opportunities to influence development in Rivers State but should publicly point to specific projects or initiatives credited to him.
The comments add to the long-running political disagreement between the two former Rivers State governors, whose rivalry has remained a major feature of the state’s political landscape.
Wike also used the engagement to discuss the importance of political representation, development and empowerment for communities within the state.
Amaechi has previously highlighted his record in public office and has been involved in Rivers State and national politics for decades.
The latest remarks are expected to generate further reactions from supporters of both political figures as their differences continue to attract public attention.
