ISWAP Finance Chief’s Wife, Son Surrender to Troops in Borno

News Trending

The wife and son of a senior Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) finance operative have voluntarily surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State, days after the insurgent himself laid down his arms.

Military sources said the woman and her child turned themselves in to soldiers in Bama Local Government Area, following the earlier surrender of the family’s head, who was identified as a key finance operative within the terrorist group. The latest development is believed to be linked to the ongoing military offensives that have weakened ISWAP strongholds across the North-East.

The senior ISWAP operative had previously surrendered alongside two of his children after reportedly responding to sustained land and air operations carried out by Operation HADIN KAI. During his surrender, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, magazines, ammunition, a motorcycle and cash. Military authorities described the surrender as a major operational success in the fight against insurgency.

According to the military, dozens of other terrorists and their family members have also surrendered in recent weeks as security forces continue to intensify operations across the region. The surrendered individuals are undergoing profiling, documentation and further assessment by the relevant authorities in line with established procedures.

The Nigerian military said it remains committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups while encouraging those willing to renounce violence to surrender peacefully.
