A lecturer who serves as the Head of the History and International Studies Department at Northwest University (formerly Yusuf Maitama Sule University) and is also a visiting lecturer at Mariam Abacha American Nigerian University (MAAUN) has reportedly been handed over to the police following allegations of sexual harassment.
According to reports, the lecturer allegedly refused to approve a married female student’s project for about two years after she repeatedly rejected his alleged sexual advances.
The student reportedly informed her husband about the situation, after which they allegedly devised a plan to expose the lecturer. Reports claim that after reviewing conversations between the lecturer and the student, the two arranged a meeting.
It is alleged that the lecturer agreed to meet the student shortly after Maghrib prayers. However, upon arriving at the agreed location, he was reportedly confronted by the woman’s husband and others, who allegedly assaulted him before handing him over to the police.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident, and the allegations remain under investigation.
