The Federal Government has announced plans to expand free digital television access to about 40 million households across Nigeria through the renewed Digital Switch Over (DSO) project.
The initiative aims to provide viewers with access to more than 100 free-to-air television channels without monthly subscription fees. According to the government, the project is designed to improve access to information, education, entertainment, and digital broadcasting services nationwide.
Officials said the DSO rollout will also create jobs, boost local content production, and strengthen Nigeria’s broadcasting industry by replacing analogue transmission with modern digital technology.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to completing the nationwide digital migration, describing the project as a major step toward expanding access to quality television services for millions of Nigerians.
