Residents in parts of Ogun State have begun fleeing their communities following a deadly failed abduction attempt that left at least six people dead.
The incident reportedly occurred when armed assailants stormed several communities in an attempted kidnapping operation. The attack was, however, foiled after resistance from security operatives and local vigilante groups, leading to a violent confrontation in which six suspects were killed.
In the aftermath, fear has gripped the affected areas, forcing many residents to abandon their homes over concerns of possible reprisal attacks or renewed violence. Local sources say the situation has disrupted normal activities, with schools and businesses shutting down in some locations.
Security presence has since been increased in the area as authorities work to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
