A 40-year-old landlady in Ondo State has been arrested for allegedly poisoning her tenant’s three-year-old son following a prolonged dispute between the two women.
According to reports, the incident occurred after a heated disagreement that had lingered for weeks between the landlady and the child’s mother. Neighbours said tensions in the compound escalated before the shocking allegation surfaced.
It was gathered that the toddler suddenly fell ill after consuming a substance believed to have been laced with poison. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel raised suspicion of poisoning and alerted authorities. The boy is reportedly receiving treatment, and his condition is being closely monitored.
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command arrested the landlady after preliminary investigations linked her to the alleged act. Sources revealed that witnesses and circumstantial evidence pointed to a possible retaliation stemming from the ongoing feud.
Confirming the arrest, a police source said the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. The substance allegedly used is said to have been recovered and sent for forensic analysis.
