A 7-month-old baby is among 13 people reportedly abducted by suspected terrorists in Borno State, in a fresh attack that has left residents in fear and uncertainty.
According to reports, armed men stormed a community in the state, forcing their way into homes and taking several residents hostage during the raid. The attackers were said to have operated for some time before escaping with their victims to an unknown location.
Security sources say efforts are ongoing to track the assailants and secure the release of those abducted, while troops have been deployed to the affected area as part of a search-and-rescue operation.
The incident has once again raised concerns over persistent insecurity in parts of the North-East, where communities continue to face repeated attacks despite ongoing military operations.
