Army destroys eight illegal refineries, seizes 18,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Niger Delta

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division have dismantled eight illegal oil refineries and confiscated about 18,000 litres of stolen crude oil during a recent operation in the Niger Delta region.The operation, aimed at curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism, also led to the arrest of several suspects believed to be involved in the illicit refining activities.

According to the Army, the raids were conducted in multiple locations within the division’s area of responsibility, where soldiers uncovered makeshift refining camps and storage facilities used for processing stolen crude.The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation, while the seized products have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

The Army reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating crude oil theft, protecting national assets, and restoring environmental safety in the oil-producing region.
