Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected bandits during a tactical operation carried out in Taraba State.
Security sources said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities and restore peace in communities affected by banditry in the region. The encounter reportedly took place after troops acted on credible intelligence about the movement of armed suspects.
During the operation, the soldiers engaged the suspects in a firefight, leading to the neutralisation of two of them. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the scene, according to military authorities.
The Army stated that follow-up operations are ongoing to track and apprehend other members of the fleeing group, while assuring residents of continued efforts to improve security in the state.
