Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has strongly distanced himself from circulating online reports that attempt to link him to banditry activities, describing the claims as false, misleading, and deliberately manipulated.

Gumi rejected the allegations in clear terms, insisting that his public engagements and advocacy work have consistently focused on peacebuilding, dialogue, and addressing insecurity in northern Nigeria through non-violent means.

He further stated that the reports are part of a coordinated effort to distort his reputation and misrepresent his position on security matters in the country.

Reaffirming his stance, the cleric maintained his commitment to national unity and peaceful conflict resolution, urging the public to disregard what he called fabricated narratives being spread online.
