Peter Obi has held a meeting with the United States Consul General, where discussions centered on the importance of credible and transparent elections in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general polls.
During the meeting, Obi emphasized the need to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions by ensuring free, fair, and inclusive elections. He highlighted concerns about the current political climate, stressing that opposition parties must be given equal opportunity to participate without intimidation or restrictions.
The former presidential candidate also called for the protection of democratic space, noting that citizens should be able to freely express their political views and engage in the electoral process without fear.
