Terrorists Abduct Kwara Monarch, Demand N400m Ransom

Suspected terrorists have abducted a traditional ruler in Kwara State, demanding a staggering ransom of N400 million for his release.

The victim, Oba Salman Olátúnjí Aweda, who is the traditional ruler of the Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, was reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the community under the cover of darkness and forcefully whisked the monarch away to an unknown location, throwing residents into panic.

Sources within the community revealed that the abductors have since made contact with the monarch’s family and associates, demanding a ransom of N400 million in exchange for his freedom.

The incident has heightened concerns over the growing insecurity in parts of Kwara State, particularly in rural communities where cases of abduction and banditry have been on the rise.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the abduction. Efforts are expected to be intensified to secure the safe release of the monarch and track down those responsible for the crime.
