Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully rescued a 28-year-old kidnapped woman and arrested two suspected armed herders in coordinated, intelligence-led operations across parts of Benue State.
The rescue took place at Tse-Ubena village in the Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The victim, identified as Mrs. Member Ityavber, was freed during a joint operation involving troops deployed from Tor-Donga and operatives of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Media Information Officer of Operation Whirl Stroke, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, troops responded swiftly to reports of kidnapping activities in the area. The collaborative effort led to the successful rescue of Mrs. Ityavber, who subsequently received medical attention and was reunited with her family after a debriefing.
In a related clearance operation in Gwer West Local Government Area, troops acting on credible intelligence conducted a thorough search and discovered an abandoned suspected criminal hideout. This led to the arrest of two suspected armed herders at Mbapa and Mbabuande communities. The suspects were taken into custody and are undergoing further investigation. The operation included exploitation across River Akpako.
The Force Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their prompt response and high level of professionalism. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Task Force to restoring and maintaining a secure environment, especially as farming communities prepare for the new season. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.
This latest success adds to ongoing efforts by security forces to curb kidnapping and other criminal activities in Benue State through sustained intelligence-driven patrols and clearance operations.
