According to officials, explosions were heard across parts of Doha on Saturday as the country’s air defence systems successfully shot down two incoming missiles before they could reach their targets.
The Qatar Ministry of Interior confirmed that several strategic locations in the city were temporarily evacuated to ensure public safety while authorities assessed the situation. Residents in some districts reportedly received emergency alerts on their phones urging them to leave the area immediately and move to the nearest safe location.
Witnesses in downtown Doha reported seeing interceptors streaking across the sky before loud blasts were heard as the missiles were destroyed mid-air. No immediate casualties or major damage have been reported so far.
Officials said the evacuation was purely precautionary and that security forces were monitoring the situation closely until the threat had fully passed. Authorities also urged residents to remain calm and follow official instructions.
The incident comes amid a broader escalation of tensions across the Middle East, where retaliatory strikes linked to the ongoing regional conflict have increased missile and drone activity across several Gulf states.
Qatar’s government has not yet confirmed the exact origin of the missiles but reiterated that its air defence systems remain fully operational and capable of protecting the country’s airspace.
Security in the capital has since been tightened while emergency services remain on alert as investigations into the incident continue.
