The Nigeria Police Force has busted a major cyber-enabled telecommunications fraud syndicate involving the illegal diversion of airtime and data resources valued at ₦7.7 billion, arresting six suspects in connection with the operation.

According to police authorities, the suspects allegedly deployed sophisticated cyber tools and unauthorized access to telecom infrastructure to reroute large volumes of airtime and internet data for personal gain. Investigations revealed that the fraud had been running for an extended period, causing significant financial losses to affected telecommunications companies.

The police said the suspects were apprehended following months of intelligence-driven investigations and coordinated operations. Several digital devices, networking equipment, and documents believed to have been used in executing the scheme were recovered during the arrests.

The Nigeria Police Force described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against cybercrime and economic sabotage, stressing its commitment to safeguarding critical national infrastructure and holding perpetrators accountable.
