A group of youths in Delta State has called on former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to contest the Delta North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election, saying his experience and leadership qualities make him the right candidate to represent the district.
The group said Okowa’s track record in public service, especially his years as governor and former senator, shows he has the capacity to deliver quality representation and attract development to Delta North. According to them, the district needs a lawmaker with deep understanding of governance and the ability to effectively protect its interests at the National Assembly.
They argued that Okowa’s return to the Senate would strengthen Delta North’s voice at the federal level and help address long-standing challenges facing the area. The youths also expressed confidence that he has the political structure and popular support needed to defeat the incumbent senator, Ned Nwoko, if he decides to run.
While Okowa has not publicly declared his intention to contest, the group urged him to heed their call, describing his possible candidacy as a unifying force capable of mobilising voters across the district ahead of 2027.
